Honoring 50 Years, Igniting What’s Next.

Fifty years ago, what is now Ignite began with one program and one bold belief: that every young person deserves safety, support, and a real chance to build the future they imagine for themselves. A few years later, that belief took to the streets, starting with outreach at the Greyhound Bus Station downtown. We continue to meet youth in moments of crisis with care, urgency, and hope.

That commitment still drives us today.

Since 1976, Ignite has grown from a grassroots collective into a force for change expanding housing, deepening support, and walking alongside youth navigating some of life’s toughest challenges. In a year when youth homelessness and housing insecurity are at historic highs, our mission is more urgent than ever. According to recent Point-in-Time (PIT) count data, an estimated 12,000 young people in Chicago experience homelessness on any given night. This proves the urgent need for housing, support, and long-term solutions.

As we celebrate 50 years of impact, we’re not only honoring our past, we’re sparking a new chapter rooted in growth, equity, and opportunity. This year, Ignite will serve over 700 young people across our programs.

Join us and "ignite" the next 50 years of impact, community, and unwavering commitment to youth at the greatest risk of harm.

Your sponsorship of Ignite’s 50th Anniversary supports transformative programs for youth and advances our vision for a brighter, more equitable future for all.
