It all started when…
At 18, Leilei left the sun-drenched lands of her home in Arizona to the colder skies of Indiana to care for a sick family member. Leilei put her own goals on hold, but in a few short months her family member's health rapidly declined. It was then she knew it was time to make another move. This time, the journey was not just across state lines but toward a future Leilei would build for herself. She sought the city of Chicago, hoping to find safe housing and support.
