Deloitte Impact Day Volunteers Aim to Make a Difference at Ignite

Chicago - June 2025

Each year, Deloitte professionals come together for Impact Day, a day of service to help create positive impact in the communities where they live and work. On Friday, June 6, Impact Day will connect Deloitte professionals, nonprofit organizations, and local communities at over 1,200 social impact projects across more than 100 US cities—including with Ignite. The Deloitte team will work with Ignite to help transform the nonprofit's garden grounds and enrich the lives of the community’s young residents. Based in Chicago’s Bronzeville, Ignite provides safe housing and supportive services for youth ages 10 to 26 who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness.

Volunteers will roll up their sleeves at Ignite’s Belfort House, which is home to 28 young people, where they will create hygiene and safety kits, plant and maintain Ignite’s garden, and collect and sort waste products as a part of the team’s Zero Waste initiative. This initiative aligns with Deloitte's broader commitment to achieving Zero Waste status at all major meetings and events (1,000+ attendees) by the end of 2025 and Zero Waste operations for offices covering 80% of the US footprint by 2030.

These efforts will help create a safe and sustainable environment for Ignite youth: Ignite’s Street and Community Outreach team distributes over 100 hygiene and safety kits each month to youth and community members across Chicago, while Ignite's garden provides a serene space for youth to reflect, relax, and access fresh produce to be enjoyed throughout the growing season.

Impact Day is an opportunity for Deloitte professionals to come together and engage in social impact efforts that embody the organization’s ongoing purpose commitments to help create positive impact in their communities. The organization plans to continue its support of Ignite through additional volunteer efforts and collaborative projects throughout the year as agreed to by both organizations.
